Wait til Your Father Gets Home {Guest Post}

Hi everyone! I'm Meredith from Wait Til Your Father Gets Home, a crafty and diy blog that I recently started since becoming a stay at home mom to my little guy, Jackson.

I'm a former teacher, addicted to Pinterest , and love to read crafty & diy blogs as often as possible! Sara has been sweet enough to invite me to guest post for her today, and I couldn't be more excited!

Today I'm sharing my recipe for Chocolate Dipped Chocolate Chip Cookies. This recipe is a delicious way to make boring chocolate chip cookies look a little "fancier." To make the cookies you'll need:


2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 eggs

1 cup milk chocolate chips

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup oatmeal

*you'll also need another cup of chocolate chips for dipping the cookies once they cool*

First, beat the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla in a bowl until combined. Add one egg at a time, beating well after each. While the wet ingredients are mixing, add the baking soda, salt, and oatmeal. Begin to stir in the flour, half a cup at a time until you've added it all. Stir in the milk chocolate and semi-sweet chips by hand or on low. I like to use a cup of each in my cookies. If you only have one kind, then just use that! No biggie!


Place spoonfuls of cookie dough on a baking sheet and bake each batch for 8-9 minutes at 375. This recipe makes anywhere from 4-5 dozen cookies, depending on how large you make your spoonfuls!


Once the cookies have baked and cooled, melt about 1 cup of chocolate chips (I used a combination of both kinds again) according to package directions. Dip about 1/3 of each cookie into the melted chocolate and place them on wax paper to dry.


After about 30 minutes, the chocolate had dried and hardened. I put them on a paper plate that I dressed up a bit using a hole punch and some extra ribbon I had in my ribbon stash before giving them to a friend for her birthday!


There you have it, Chocolate Dipped Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Pinterest Lego Travel Box

A few weeks ago, I pinned this project and it was immediately re-pinned 80+ times.

I thought it was such a clever idea but also so helpful. My boys always want to bring something with them when we go in the car and lately, it is always Legos for Nate.

I thought this project would be a perfect gift for Lucy to put together for her brother's birthday.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the same style box but we ended up with something just as good.



I superglued the lego piece on top and she decorated the sides with stickers.


We took it on our car trip to Texas A&M and it was such a hit.

Trip to Texas A&M

Hi everyone! Anyone else totally confused over what day of the week it is? I love having 3 day weekends but they sure throw me off the rest of the week. :)

My kids' last day of school is tomorrow but it sure feels like summer already! We spent most of the weekend spending time with my in-laws because my husband starts his new job in St Louis next week!

On Sunday, we took a day trip to visit our college, Texas A&M. Neither of us had been back in 10+ years so it was very exciting to visit and of course, show our kids all of our favorite spots.

A&M is usually overshadowed by the University of Texas, our intense rival, whom we refer to as t.u.

But it is just as big and offers just as great an education. And of course, I'm biased, but I think it is far superior in every way. :)



The campus is just gorgeous and I was quickly reminded why I skipped so much class.



This is the Century Tree and is known as "the" place to get engaged. Just beautiful!



A&M is a school deeply rooted in tradition. One of our most famous traditions came to a tragic end in the fall of 1999 when Bonfire collapsed, killing 12 students.

Now there is a beautiful memorial to remember the occasion.







We got to have lunch with old friends, see our dorms and other landmarks, too. It was one of the best days we've had in a long, long time.



Obviously, we wore the kiddos out. :)
